FeatherPond Farms

In Minnesota, ditches are one of the few remaining refuges for milkweed, which is safeguarded against mowing. Yet, this means thousands of monarchs perish under our vehicles. While government programs often cease when funds dry up, our conservation approach is different. We believe in the power of perpetual conservation achieved when a non-profit owns the land indefinitely. This ensures lasting funding for protecting all Friends of the Forest.

What do we envision under 'Friends of the Forest'? It encompasses every creature - from mammals to insects - that thrives on or near our lands. When acquiring land, at least 10% is allocated as a sanctuary for our forest friends, considering the location, ecology, and neighboring habitats. Each piece of acquired land becomes a unique project, detailed on our website with photographs and descriptions.

Our projects prioritize supporting bees, butterflies, deer, and songbirds. We're also committed to creating Nature-Specific Corridors. Picture this: We secure thirty 5-acre plots spanning from Baudette, Minnesota, to New Orleans, placed 50 miles apart. This forms the beginning of a corridor.

Imagine then doubling this effort, establishing wildflower-filled Migration Parks every 25 miles. What if we also create Preservation Ponds for migratory birds along the way?

With your support, such a vision can become a reality. Together, we're set to make it happen.

As we embark on the journey of setting up Carbon Farms, this page will evolve into a gallery, chronicling the impact and results of our FeatherPond Farms projects. This compilation will serve as a rich educational and advanced studies resource.
